I think Sully would normally be worth $6-7mil per year, but the expected depression in player salaries this off season (thanks to salary cap pressure), together with his back issues means i think a fair offer would be in the $3.5-$4.5 per year neighborhood. Can't imagine anyone, especially the cash-strapped Preds, forking over $6mil or $7mil per year when the first average hit in the preseason could end his career.

That's fine, I may have been mistaken there. Darren's pretty good about getting back to people.

Normally, I would edit the post to reflect that (and I will if I'm wrong once I hear back from Darren) but I was under the impression the entire time that he meant per year. Especially when I called in and said $5.5-$6 million a year is a good number considering Leggy and Erat make $4.5/year and barely get 55 points while Sully is a pt/game guy. They never raised an eyebrow to my whole argument on that so I have to think they meant per season.

That being said, I will edit the article if I hear back from Darren that I misunderstood.

Did I mishear that segment? I understood the thinking to be $6-7 million for two years in total ($3 - 3.5 million per season). I can't imagine Sully as the highest-paid member of the team.
